| Thirty Moose brothers and Ladies Circle members travelled to Edithmead’s Oak Tree pub for their third Western Area convention since the re-organization of UK Moose International. Special guests included the UK Moose International National President Barry Soley and his first lady of Moose Glenda Soley, plus Administrator of Ladies Circles- Lynda Griffiths |
After the usual arrival refreshments, delegates who had attended from the Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-Super-Mare, Bristol and Swindon lodges, separated into their own meetings for ladies or brothers presentations and discussions. During the brothers meeting, they viewed a video presentation, where Supreme Governor Scott Hart conveyed greetings from America. This had been attempted earlier in the year at national convention in Port Talbot, but prevented by technical difficulties. Scott encouraged UK lodges to persevere, and continue to spread the philosophy of Moose.
Following a delicious buffet lunch supplied by the Oak Tree catering staff, Ladies and brothers met for a joint presentation delivered by Matthew Sproston on the life and times of George Formby. Matthew also entertained with some humorous Formby songs.
This was followed by a winding up session, ably chaired by District Liaison Officer Gareth Griffiths.
Afterwards, came the usual raffle which raised £140, supported by a huge seventy five prize table, plus the usual convention photograph, before final refreshments and goodbyes sent delegates on their way.
